Rune Grand Hall

The Rune Grand Hall is a large three-story hall located at the center of Gate country's Arcanum City. It is run by the Rune Council, which also serves as its headquarters with over 500 employees including workers, adventurers, officers, and security in its service.

Purpose / Function

As with its original purpose as the council's offices and meeting area, it is where many people register themselves to obtain a license needed to become adventurers or protectors and obtain permanent or one-time passports for traveling other worlds. There is also an auditorium where promotion ceremonies and other important events are handled by the Arcanum City such as the Moonlight Festival and several conference rooms. Unknown to the public, several portal rooms can be used by the Rune Council along with associated groups who have permission from them.

Entries

There are three entryways in the building, the front doors which open for the public, the backdoors for the security and other employees, and the door to the basement that only allows Council members and their security to avoid any unnecessary attention and for extra security. There is also a secret entryway connected to the third floor where there is a hallway that leads them to a secret portal room that leads them to their homeworlds or other cities in Core.

Denizens

Besides the Rune Council including the security and office branches, many employees work in the Grand Hall with duties such as managing the guild's taxes, approving licenses and passports, and gathering complaints and suggestions from the public.

Hazards & Traps

To ensure the safety of the Council members during active hours, there are several arcane traps and armaments installed in the hallways near their offices on the third floor of the Grand Hall. From barriers that trap intruders to trapdoors that kick them out, they remain active except for employees who possess the Rune ID.

Architecture

Originally intended to be made with bricks and cement, the building itself was later made with elemental stones and arcane conduit crystals to create magic barriers to protect it from fires, force, and age while increasing the durability that would help it stand the test of time. Large crystals are also installed in the clock and the sides of the walls to act as the main defense against attackers and assassinations.   The building's exterior is a mix of Eastern and Western as it resembles a castle with poles made of durable Rock Wood and roofs made of Studle Cement and bricks.

Defenses

The large crystals attached to the sides of the walls outside the Grand Hall and on the clock doubles as weapons as they fire elemental beams toward any potential attackers. There are also tiny crystals inside the halls of the third floor and ground floor that also fires beams and several barriers to protect the employees along with the visitors and tourists.

History

The Rune Grand Hall was first constructed during Arcanum City's founding after instigating the Rune Masquerade and the Rune Council themselves. It was originally made as a meeting place for Riyoku and his party to mingle and discuss the current events of Arcanum. After the party's disbandment, the building was expanded to not only fit the council's offices but to turn the ground floor into an area where many natives and foreigners register for an adventurer or protector's license or create their own guilds and factions associated with the Rune Masquerade or city.

Tourism

The Rune Grand Hall also acts as a tourist spot and point of interest in the city. During the weekends, it offers tours in set hours to visitors and tourists from other worlds.
