Mouth of the Tempest

Geography

The mouth, otherwise simply known as the sinkhole at times, combined with it's surrounding region of Floeur, can be seen as a several square meters tall gaping hole to the abyss, with a dark depth you can't even see down. Combined with this, a plethora of rivers combined to traverse the depths, where the waters can't even be heard striking at a bottom. As laws of physics generally tend to play a critical role to reality though, the water naturally has to go somewhere. Thus, several myths and religious beliefs have formed from this phenomen.

Localized Phenomena

During certain nights, the water of the sinkhole will start to glow in a bright turqoise light. The reason behind this odd behaviour is unkown, though astrologicians and prospectors have figured it may not be a magical phenomen. Rather, when one of Arcathia's moons stand close to the Marche, the tidewater strikes against some form of underground cavern or hollow which spread minerals into the water. Said mineral giving the waters the weird glow.   Sadly, not everyone accepts the scientifical explenation and believe that this hole is in truth a gateway to the elemental plane, more specifically to the kingdoms of water. It's also believed by several groups that the glow is a sign that they demand sacrifices. Some to prevent storms, others to avoid the often common flooding into the region. A few even try to pervert it's waters as they believe painting it red would summon some ancient bloodgod.   Due to the many people who lost their lives, as well as bodies being thrown in, the area is underneath direct control of the Witchenguard that built an abbey and courtyard around it, so that visitors require to pay a small fee of tax to see it. They're also only ever allowed to walk within the open corridors around the courtyard, so that guards can swiftly and easily prevent any insanity from taking place.
