Ravenwoods
Within the depths of the woodlands lurk many beasts, monsters and ancient creatures of lore. Yet all these horrors pale in the face of the gray rot which spread through the Ravenwoods. As once a beautiful woodlands of solitude filled with loggers, reforesters and the proud united races of the Morstein people, fear and a silent war now rages between the woodlands noble defenders and the abyssal spawn who's twisted ideals seek to engulf them all into a sickly reign.
Geography
Found among the dark mountains and hills, by the Crows Mountains, just next to the larger Dragonmountains. These shaded deepwoods linger in a deceptive darkness from the looming snowcoated tops above, as does the muddy and grassless ground bear home to many smaller lakes and rivers. During the colder and darker months, these pools of water are sometimes hard to see as they freeze over. Creating natural traps which easily break and have spelled the end to many an uncarefull adventurer.
Ecosystem
The mountains above bring streams of rivers to trail through the landscape bellow. It's easy enough for the critters and beasts of the Ravenswood to find source of nutriment within freshwater lakes and shrooms that grow in the decaying leaves and growth among the depths of this mostly untouched woodlands. Within the wintery months though, many a river freezes over causing a drought on the landscape. Though there is still plenty of water to be found at the foot of the mountains the year around, the resources become more contested between predator and prey animals, which causes the beasts to become far more aggressive and protective.
Localized Phenomena
The Ravenwoods carry an affliction within which is called the Huntmarshall's Curse, which spreads through the ground like bluegreyish veins. These veins themselves are physically the roots of various trees and shrubbery that work as a seismic radar for activity above. If anything steps within it's corruption, the creatures afflicted by it instantly react to the touch and will attempt to seek out whatever it was which intruded on their grounds. Thus why the woodlands are factually considered to be accursed.
Climate
The Ravenwoods are mostly temperate for the year, with cool but not harshly so springs and autumn. It's summers never get too warm though, due to the foilage but neither does the winters ever turn the landscape into a waste due to the protective evergreen shrubbery containing a lot of the warmth on the lower levels, hence making the woods significantly warmer than the areas around it.
