The Drakkengarde

"Through fire and flame. Through hails of lead and the thundering barrages of mortars. Through frost and hail. Few subterfuge units can consider themselves to have the mettle of the Drakkenguard. These Blackcoats are known to the be toughest fighters that the House of Serpents can pride themselves in. Brave, elegant and carrying themselves with charm, these noble warriors are far from brutes yet still stand strong."

Composition

Manpower

Each squad of the Drakkengarde is merely four man strong.

Equipment

Though it may seem a bit too simple an equipment for elite units, the Drakkengarde is clothed with plain brown coats with a sharp and regal attitude to their tails and cuffs. Adroned with tailored pants, buckled up knee high boots and fancy feathered tricornes among other hats and naturally clad in their black scarves and capes, they take style serious. This suit, known as the Drakkencloak does not make them stand out all that much from the rest of the soldiers on the battlefield. It is actively meant to be a hard to spot out unform usable both within battle as well as on a royal ball, mirroring many similarities to that of the Regalia of the Raven Herald.   These uniforms are however strapped with belts, bandoliers and smaller satchels which are filled with everything from radio devices to medical equipments to bombs and bullets. In certain cases, they are even lined with plate additions to softer joints and vitals, such as chainmail and plate curiass depending on what battle or terrain they are battling within. The light but hard spider silk and leather coats even fit like a perfect insulator underneath.

Weaponry

The sword is the favoured weapon of a Blackcoat within the Drakkengarde. Their muskets, pistols and other firearms have ammo and reloading is no short process, hence their rune inscribed blades, mostly consisting of rapiers, scimitars and sabers have remained modern even to date.

Structure

For every squad of Drakkenguard, there is one among them whom is considered the Captain. This individual leads both the squadron but may also serve as the commander for any other forces which fight besides of them. The bond between brother and Captain is also something considered to be sacred and holy.

Tactics

The tactics of the Drakkengarde can be summed up as brotherhood. Rather than use brute force, they seek out bottlenecks, checkpoints or wherever they are hard to reach. Then, they use tricks and grace to fight back to back in defensive flourishes with quick stabs, pistol shots and maiming attacks aimed to wound foes rather than to kill them. As a way to force their enemy to capitulate and minimalize their losses. After all, the Drakkenguard was not made to rush into the heat of battle but more so ensure these battles never come to pass in the first place.
