Humans
The most common and prolific of the sapient races of Archaios, humans are the generalists of the world. Where elves, dwarves, gnomes, and the like all evolved to fill a certain, specific niche, humans have adapted to all sorts of environments and biomes.
As the most numerous and inherently expansive species of Archaios, humans are also the most diverse in terms of culture, religion, technology, disposition, and wealth. When you chart a course for a dwarven or elven kingdom, you can form a general idea of what it will look like regardless of where in the world it is, but if you ask somebody in the Verge where the nearest winery is, they'll look at you like your crazy.
Humans have been the dominant force on Archaios for the past few millennia, owing to their propensity for aggressive expansion and growth. Their short lives in comparison to the likes of elves and dwarves instills in them a sense of urgency compared to the more aloof outlooks of the more long-lived races. In the relatively short time man has been master of the world around him, there have been countless civilizations and empires to rise and fall. And even when it seems there's no way in hell humanity could possibly bounce back from whatever calamity that befell their latest and greatest civilization, they're always right back to building and growing within a generation or two.
