Markheim
A lumber town that sits on the edge of the expansive Brytnian Woods. Markheim shares an interesting relationship with its neighboring forest; regarding it as almost a spiritual being of sorts. Because of this, Markheim only takes what is absolutely necessary to survive in terms of lumber and game and always ensuring to replant what was cut and taking great care not to overhunt. Because of this, Markheim has remained small despite the potential of the forest. This has also caused conflict with the other kingdoms who would readily put all that untapped lumber to use. Curiously though, no one has been successful in invading Markheim despite its small size.
Folklore states that the spiritual connection with the forest came from the city's founder, Markus, who struck a deal with the denizens of the forest to provide equal protection
