Mudan
The great city of Mudan sits at the headwaters of the Red River beneath a massive waterfall that folklore illustrates as having mystical properties. Founded initially in the early 300s as humanity's re-expansion reached its zenith, it remained a relatively small settlement for the first few hundred years of its existence until the ruler of a small coalition of kingdoms decided to move his palace to the cliff of the waterfall. The ruler's interests were both in the folklore surrounding the falls as well as the bizarre, magical properties of the Kateran Wastes a few miles to the north. To this day, expeditions are mounted into the enchanted wastes and a precarious trade route between Mudan and Termina in Horizon is occasionally undertaken by particularly bold trade caravans.
When Aonism was introduced, there was initally push back from Mudan and its northern kingdoms and an inquisition of sorts led by the southern emissaries resulted in tense relations for several decades. Eventually, Aonism was adopted and the waterfall palace was converted into one of the greatest shrines to Aon in the modern age. Some hostilities and tensions remained, but after the unification process after the Twilit War, Mudan has been a steadfast ally to the rest of the Kentran Kingdoms, though some few remain who still follow the old ways of the mountain gods.
