Nuridium (Nerr-id-eeyum)

Nuridium is far and away the most rare mineral on the planet and cannot be found on Archaios at all. This is for good reason, as the material comes from space. Long ago, a meteorite bit the earth in the realms that would one day be called Sakria. From it came the metal known as nuridium. So far, this one meteor is the only source of the material on the entire planet.   As an alien material, nuridium boasts an incredibly strange property: it is all but entirely divorced from the Earth's magical Weave. As such, armor made from nuridium makes its wearer highly resistant to magic. Similarly, a mage wearing nuridium would find it difficult to cast spells.   Similarly, it is incredibly efficient at dispersing heat and kinetic energy, making it an excellent material for both armor and construction. However, its limited quantity makes large-scale crafting with it impossible.

Properties

Material Characteristics

In its raw ore form, nuridium is a dark, nearly black, purple mineral that shimmers with flecks of silver. When forged, it almost resembles obsidian in its dark but reflective appearance.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Nuridium is highly efficient in dispersing energy, be it heat or magic. It is by no means 100% efficient at this, and sufficient quantities of heat, magic, or kinetic energy can cause the material to break down. Additionally, while a nuridium breastplate goes a long way in protecting its wearer from a fire bolt, any part of their body not covered by the nuridium can still be harmed as normal.    Its energy ablation also makes smelting and forging the material tricky. It must be smelted within containers that redirect heat, preventing the energy redirected by the nuridium to go anywhere except back into the nuridium.

Geology & Geography

Nuridium is found only where the meteor that carried it to earth struck the planet. Otherwise, it does not exist anywhere else.
