The Extinction War

The poets, scribes, and historians of Archaios have taken to referring to the struggles against Cataclysm and his forces as "The Extinction War." A grim portent of what will befall all mortal life should they fail to unite against the seemingly unstoppable threat.
An Alliance of the realm's most powerful and influential have gathered together to combat the existential threat, but whether or not they will succeed in their monumental task remains to be seen.
In the short months that have followed the encapsulation of Eodur in an extraplanar dome, many cities have already succumbed to the Slaadi hordes that have radiated from its epicenter, including Estmere, Eldun, Kal Rhenov, Overlook, Brama, Skala, Veldford, and Amberwatch. It is impossible to know the extent of this war's current casualties, but conservative estimates put it close to 1 million and rising every day.

Conclusion

The Extinction War ultimately culminated in what came to be known as the Great Collision; a violent Convergence that left vast swathes of nature and settled land alike razed. However, it was not as catastrophic as one would initially think. Thanks to the efforts of the adventuring party that fought and sealed Cataclysm, all living (and deceased) souls were safely plucked out of time while the Convergence carried out and dropped back in when the worst of the violence had passed. 
However, while no life was claimed as a direct result of the Collision, the decades that followed were rife with hardship and famine as the remaining kingdoms of men struggled to rebuild what had been destroyed. The population took a heavy hit; reducing by nearly a quarter before things leveled off, but eventually, the world healed, though a lasting scar remained. 
All told, the Extinction War fundamentally altered the course of mortal civilization. But mortals are tenacious beings, and though things may never again be as they once were, they have found a way to move on and grow in new directions regardless.
