Theremen Ulath
Lord of Highmoon Theremen Ulath
Deepingdale balances on the proverbial swordblade between thriving as the place it is because of its proximity to Sembia, and trying to avoid being swallowed up by Sembia and losing its independence. This loss of sovereignty is a very real fear. Deepingdale wants to keep its independence without being as difficult or warlike as the Arkhen, so they need a strong leader who is a reasonable and just diplomat, a “do something” rather than a “do nothing” person. In other words, they need a warrior, but don’t want or need a war captain or a blusterer - - and greatly fear getting someone Sembia can bribe. In short, the folk of Deepingdale need something just shy of a living saint; in Theremin Ulath, they just might have found it.
This tall, broad, helf-elf has been elected as lord of Highmoon for a 4th consecutive time and has spent 19 years proving he is capable of not just outplotting the agents and nobles of Sembia, Cormyr, Zhentilar, and Hillsfar, but also of outfighting them and the various brigands and outlaws that may also challenge his people. Theremen has made it his life's work to ensuring the security and independence of Deepingdale and the dale has given him much in return. Deepingdale born and bred, Theremen served multiple lords as a tower guard before himself becoming selected by the Deeping Council for his numerous exhibitions of exceptional competence and that exceptional competence is also what has earned him his 4th six year term as Highmoon's most powerful man.
