Born to a nomadic tribe known as the Pantano of the Ca'Jiin Marshlands swamps, Aliñar was always one in tuned with the ways of nature. The tribe lives on large wooden structures that travel the rivers with out the use of paddles or sails. The majority of the tribe have enough Djinn blood that they are able to control the streams and pools with their innate Water Shaping abilities, allowing the tribe to travel through the marshy lands with ease. Their mobile settlement doesn’t have a name, but is simply referred to as Pantano (Spanish names). The men of the tribe spend most of their days tending the floating island, praying to Mulaki the Fishbringer, and caring for the children and elderly of the varying clans that call Pantona home. The women of the tribe use their natural blessings to travel the swamps, seas, and skies to hunt for food, gather fruits and vegetables, and serve as scouts and protectors for their people.
The Pantano people are one of four sister tribes that co-exist through the natural world but have remained mostly hidden. There was once a sister tribe in the Eastern Islands, but they have lost contact with the rest of the tribes many years ago. The Earthen tribe of Boden (Germanic names) live in the wild expanses of Tra, the Fiery tribe of Nariin call the deserts of Azmayne home, and finally there is the sky people of Mur known as the Yun (Chinese names). The Four Tribes are ruled by a Chieftain King that is chosen only by completing a challenge the last Chieftain King had issued. This Chieftain visits each tribe during their corresponding season the Yun in Spring, Nariin in Summer, Boden in Autumn, and the Pantano during the Winter months. It is said that the Chieftain, when most needed, can call upon the strengths of all four tribes abilities to take down any threat challenging their people. During Aliñar’s childhood she heard stories of how the Chieftan King Malik(Nariin) was able to track down and defeat a legendary Dragon Turtle, thus making him the new Chieftan King. Whenever Malik would visit Pantano he would display his strength by supplying the tribe with large amounts of food and supplies from the wilderness singlehandedly. Aliñar wished to one day be like this godlike man that existed, so she would spend hours daily trying to strengthen her elemental master and abilities to become the best hunter that ever lived while hiding her practices from her father.
Fire Genasi - Nariin
Around the age of twelve Aliñar began her tutelage under her mother to learn the tribe’s way of Druidry after coming to her family expressing how her body wasn’t how she invisioned. She expressed how she didn’t connect with the life her father had been teaching her and instead she felt in her soil that she was to hunt and explore like the rest of the women of the tribe. It was her very soul that called to accomplish this task, despite her body suggesting otherwise. The soul of an animal was one of the most powerful things a hunter of the Pantano could conjure in battle, and it was this essence that allowed these hunters to become the very beasts they searched for. Years passed and Aliñar began to learn the ways of the Druid, and how to call upon the goddess that was the moon for her inner strength. It made sense that the moon held power for the Pantano women. This goddess in the sky controlled the oceans, so it made sense that her power was extended to the Water Genasi of the world.
Years passed and she began to grow out her hair and began the transition to become the woman she wished to be. At 16 years old she has taken to the greater seas to find who she is truly meant to be and not who her tribe thought she should have been. During the years spent at sea she made countless friends as she traveled across numerous ships, all the while still learning how to be happy as herself. It wasn’t until she was 18 years old that she heard that the Chieftain King Malik issued a new challenge to allow someone to take over his throne. Slay and claim trophies of the 5 chromatic types and present them to the Chieftain to prove not only your bravery and might, but also you capability to work with others to accomplish a grandiose goal. She is now on the search of allies she believes could help her accomplish this task so she could prove to the four sister tribes that she is worth respect and honor.
