Summary

Dara convinced a capture spy named Marva to provide more information about the meeting with Torrace, manager of spies and assistant of the Chief of Eyes. The meeting occurs every week on Saturday at midnight in a stone alcove along the north edge of the Bazen Hills. The meeting is like a quiet party; cloaked figures move about and share news, hiding their identities and ensuring that others hear about the town/region they are responsible for watching. Torrace is among them, gathering information.

The party obtained one such cloak, which Laucian donned. Pocket was able to cast disguise self to simulate another one.

The party traveled to the meeting site, arriving early. Pocket and Laucian went undercover to join the meeting, while the others waited on a stone platform above and nearby.

Laucian and Pocket moved about the meeting, eliminating possible Torrace candidates by listening to their voices and checking their sizes. Torrace was a male human with a masculine voice. They were able to identify him.

Grey's crow familiar Yog followed Torrace after the meeting. After members had dispersed, the party followed him and ambushed him. They captured and tied him up. He refused to provide any information, but Grey used detect thoughts to read his mind and discern the entrance to a labyrinthine cave that served as the Chief of Eyes' hideout.

The party left Torrace unconscious and restrained and traveled to the hideout entrance. Each fork in the tunnel had symbols carved into different paths. As they wandered around, they identified the meaning of some symbols, and were able to find an efficient path to the Chief.

The party fought guards and avoided hazards, and made their way to Torrace's office. The office contained correspondence and many documents with plans, identities of members, and maps of nearby areas and dungeons. They found a letter indicating that the Chief of Feathers was located somewhere in Sandreach, the southern beach of the Bazen Lowlands.

They found a huge pile of gold in the next room. After Grey stole some with mage hand, a young green dragon entered the room. This dragon was the Chief of Eyes, and was annoyed to find the party in her den.

The party fought while retreating. Tarhun was knocked down and captured by the dragon, but the others escaped and fled.

They returned to Salmund with Torrace captive. Karock thanked and paid them.
