Tomorrow we celebrate the ten year anniversary of our humble city of P’rik’hach. It has not been an easy decade, but for the most part, our citizens have grown accustomed to life in the underground. However much they complain about the tasteless mushrooms, they eat. However much they complain about the darkness, we have iridescent fungi and coal for our fires. However much they might complain about feeling unsafe, they are secure behind the wall.
If the demons ever do find us down here, we have the bunker to fall back to, which is well-equipped for longterm survival. The key is a simple puzzle: a series of symbols that indicate what one must use to open the lock. If we must imprison ourselves inside, the allies who eventually arrive to slay the demons blockading us will be able to deduce how to open it. We are fortunate that fiends are too stupid and impatient to solve our riddles. I expect this is why the mazefolk built their labyrinth with all its esoteric challenges; it must have protected them well. For all we know, some of them could still even be alive in there.
