The Voice of the Deep

The Voice of the Deep, also known as the Whispering Observer and the Deep Commander, is an ancient power that has long held a subtle presence in Archestria. Its existence is only known to particularly curious scholars and those who have heard its whispers in their mind. It is believed that the Voice is an ancient being that resides somewhere in the darkest abyss of the ocean.

It occasionally offers a pact of power to people who it believes will accept: often the lonely, the forlorn, and the lost. A consistent caveat of its contracts is that it may look through the eyes of the recipient; thus, each acceptor allows it to view another fragment of the world. The Voice occasionally speaks into the mind of its warlocks, granting them information or issuing commands. These commands gradually twist the mind of the warlock, corrupting their mind and giving it more control over their behavior. Its motivations are mysterious and its decisions appear random, often sowing either chaos or peace.

Grey came face to face with the Voice upon touching the Staff of the Emerald Feather, seeing an enormous eye and a tendriled silhouette from within the confines of a green glass bubble. The Staff granted him the power to telepathically speak to the Voice.
