Vak's Journal - Kazzin Forest Village Ruins

Text

The records I’ve uncovered in this ruined village are written in the dots-and-lines script. I’ve gathered a number of old letters and other documents that have survived the years. I haven’t read everything yet, but already my mind is ablaze with stories, questions, and mysteries!
Some of the writings contain references to Cindon’s Library, a place I recall reading about in archaeology notebooks. It seems that a group of ancient explorers discovered it and uncovered some revelation that spurred a large exodus among their people. Many of them packed their homes and migrated northward, apparently in flight of some danger from the ocean. It chills me to wonder what dreadful stories could inspire such a decision! It was not unanimous, however- many of them chose to remain home, believing the rumor of peril to be fallacious.
I wonder if the mazefolk were aware of the discovery. Did they feel secure in the underground? I have read that there are a few mazefolk ruins upon the surface of the region north of the mountains, so perhaps some of them departed as well. When I am done charting the lowlands, I plan to follow the migration north for additional clues. Fortune permitting, I will find the location of Cindon’s Library and be the first to peruse its lost volumes!
