Basic Information

Anatomy

These glowing mushrooms give off an amber light and grow in sets of three caps per stem. The stem is off-white color and the cap is a light brown.

Genetics and Reproduction

This fungus reproduces like most other through the use of spores. This spores can latch on to and grow on iron ore naturally but can also grow on humanoids, expect dwarves, and other creatures.

Growth Rate & Stages

1. The first stage of life for Dusk's Glow is the spore stage. In this stage the mushroom can get carried by underground air currents to new locations but it also can be carried by getting caught in the fur or hair of creatures or the clothing fabric of humanoids. The spore appears as a rusty cloud in large numbers or rusty color on fur/fabric. Individual Spores however are to small to see with the naked eye.   2. The next stage for the mushroom is growth to an immature mushroom. At this point the mushroom has a stem a cap and a layer of mycelium. Mushrooms can be collected at this point however other the being cook and eaten it is best to let the mushrooms mature.   3. The mushroom releases spores that travel to new locations to spread the fungus. At this stage the mushroom starts glowing its signature amber color.   4. In this stage the mushroom look just like in stage one but is no longer releasing spores instead spores cover the surface of the mushroom. This is the safest stage to collect it in.   5. This is final stage of life occurs about 25 years into the fungus life when it slowly solidifies and becomes part of the mineral or ore it is growing on. This species is vertically good at becoming Iron, Copper, and Lead ore.

The optimal environment for this species is vast cave systems but large colonies are known to inhabit closed of caves. Caves between 3 miles (4.83 km) and 5 miles (8.05 km) are the most suitable environment do the type of rock often found at this level, the temperature, and amount of cave passage ways.
