Heimvik

Heimvik is the unofficial capital city of Svalvag. Technically, Svalvag has no official capital. It is largely decentralized and power is split between the Jarls, of which there is usually 5-10 at any given time. The city has become the unofficial capital for several reasons. First of all, it is the oldest city in all of Svalvag, and the most economically important. In addition, it is within close proximity to the religious center of Kalmarsa. The city is currently part of the Fiskr clan, ran by Jarl Torrad Kollson.

History

The location of the city is said to be the human's first landing point in the land of Svalvag (though this is sometimes debated). Nevertheless, it is most certainly the region's oldest city and is believed to have existed for thousands of years. Many clans have come under control over it at some point or another, some of which are now extinct clans.

Geography

It is a very cold port on the Boreal Sea. The coast is made up of steep cliffs and gravel beaches, and most of the buildings are built upon the flatter plain above. A few major staircases built of stone connect the upper city to the lower docks.
