Sgaivaras

Sgaivaras is a monastary located in the mountainous portion of the Gallangar Wilds, where monks study the art of the shadow. It was started by a Firbolg monk named Brevir. In the past, it was booming with new students, eager to learn. Now, it is facing extinction. After Brevir died at the age of 472, in the year 131 G.L., he passed on ownership to Thark, his last student. Since then, Thark has been watching over it.

History

Sgaivaras was started by Brevir, a Firbolg monk who was exiled from his clan in the Gallangar wilds. At first, it was merely a cave in the side of the mountain, with no main structure built. Brevir meditated there throughout the day, but at night he lurked around the shadows of the woods, in search of food. Being caught by his clan would have meant certain death, and other dangerous beasts lived in the woods, forcing him to master the art of stealth. At age 100, the construction of the main structure began. Dwarves from the nearby Kangolir oversaw the construction. They required no payment, as they were simply repaying Brevir from when he had fought off an owlbear who attacked them when venturing through the mountainside. Through word of mouth, people began to learn his ways, hearing great tales of the school of the Shadow. Sgaivaras became a haven for exiles and outcasts, people who were not understood by their societies or tribes. However, the boom didn't last forever, and Brevir saw the rise and fall of his organization. His dying wish to Thark, his best and most loyal student, was to protect the monastary and untamed wilderness surrounding it at all costs.
