Personal history
It is said that Valathar was born on a boat heading back to port, which is one reason why he was destined to rule the oceans. Many different cities in Svalvag claim to be the original home that Valathar grew up in, but it is unknown which is true. His childhood was uneventful until the age of 11 when his village was attacked by a neighboring clan. Despite his youth, he grabbed a simple woodcutting axe and tried to fight back. That was his first taste of combat and ever since that moment, he craved more of it. He trained until his prowess in battle was uncontested. Hardly any would dare fight Valathar, and those that did were swiftly defeated, though shown mercy. When fighting became too easy, he retired his life as a soldier and traveled the world. He sought to learn history, philosophy, and magic of course. He explored more of the world than any previous human had before. While in an unknown land, he found the secret to immortality, but that alone was not enough to achieve godhood. Valathar trained his magic for hundreds of years until he discovered interdimensional travel. His continued journey granted an additional opportunity to learn new knowledge. In between travels, he always looked after his people, and they began to worship him. It is said that, eventually, he was strong enough to merge the mortal plane with that of the gods. He opened a gate that, if found, could allow anyone to meet with the gods. Whether fact or myth, nobody has yet found the gate.
