Flail Snail

The Flail Snails of Glasswitch are famed throughout the Aswarian Empire. Found as wild creatures, eventually domesticated and farmed for their slime trails which dry into glass. They can grow as large as a cow and are curious creatures. Often getting into mischief if not foiled by their herders.

Basic Information

Ecology and Habitats

They thrive in coastal environments.  It's believed that the metals of the beaches around @Glasswitch and the salty, bracing sea air are the perfect combination to help the snails have a healthy slime.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Often they will live in a herd with a matriarch and her children. Occasionally a patriarchal herd is found but rarely.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Baby flail snails are used in beauty treatments in the local salons before being returned to the farmers as they grow too big. They eat the dead skin cells and their early slime is like a collagen refresher for the skin. People rave about how amazing their skin feels after experiencing the rejuvenating treatment. Some people are scared but often the clientele report being so relaxed that they slept through the whole procedure. A lot of people say their face feels fuller and that their skin positively glows.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

They are located mainly around Glasswitch but have been known to be seen as far North as Orhollow and even a few have been spotted on the outskirts of Ampleforth to the South.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

They have a symbiotic relationship with their herders now. They have come to rely on the care and protection of their carers. In part because they were dying out due to their own curiosity. But also because the humans use their slime and produce it into the glass that Glasswitch is famous for.
Conservation Status
There is a Flail Snail Guild that protects the snails and their farmers. The Farmers are kept to strict mandates around the care and upkeep of flail snails.
