During the Ernesh Conflict
There were rumours of dragons warring and people fleeing at the warning of the gods, but this seemed like a ruse to King Gustav the First and his advisors. They did not believe gods interfered in mortal lives so General Cross was ordered to take the Aswarian Army to the crossing at the northern end of the Anvil mountains and prevent the Arythian spies from entering the land to gather Intel.
The battle at what came to be known Purecross was brutal and many died or were severely injured. General Cross realised these refugees were untrained and unarmed and when they saw a white flag they hurriedly ordered the fighting to cease and began negotiations with General Sylyra Pure. The Generals "negotiated" for a year while the battle to the East finished and the messengers from King Gustav decreased in number until they were left alone and largely forgotten.
Some individuals from both sides eventually left and went home to their families. But some stayed and established the Purecross Waystation.
