The Journal of Kaplan Kuhani

The journal was found by (NAME), a scribe, in the sanctum library tucked behind some books on a dusty shelf. The language was unfamiliar to (NAME) though some of the diagrams clearly indicated parts of the sanctum and the catacombs below it. Others showed strange artifacts, markings, and creatures that (NAME) had never seen before. Intrigued and curious, (NAME) set out to make a copy of the book, a page or two at a time. Painstakingly copying each detail in-between duties. As (NAME) carefully transcribed it, they realized that this could be the lost journal of Kaplan Kuhani and that they should probably show it to the Triumvirate... After they finished their copy of course.

Purpose

In exploring the sanctum catacombs Kaplan Kuhani kept careful track of the twists and turns and discoveries that lay below the Ormälskare Sanctum. What they discovered was a fascinating architectural marvel, and etchings of strange symbols. And a creature, marvelous and terrible to behold.

The Journal of Kaplan Kuhani

Day five. I have been mapping these tunnels for five days. They are seemingly without end and if I weren't keeping such careful track I could easily get lost. Thankfully I've left markings for myself to follow, without compromising the integrity of the original structure.
....

Day ten. Something moved in the shadows today. I heard w rustling but when I shined the lantern in that direction, there was nothing there ... It happened again. I'm sure I'm being watched.

Day fifteen. Today I came face to face with.. well, I'm not sure what it is called but it was Serpent like but also had bird like qualities. A mane comprised of feathers which seemed out of place and natural all at once. This is unlike anything I've seen before.
I may have discovered a new creature. I am pondering what to call it. Birpent, serpird, feathent, feathered serpent, the serpent bird.... I'll work on it. I hope to observe the creature in it's natural environment and learn what it eats and how it survives down here.
While I was staring into it's eyes, i swear I heard something... In my head. It reminded me of the stories mothers tell their children about the Feathered Serpent to keep them in line. 
I felt like it was trying to read me like a book and then darkness overcame me. I awoke lying on the cavern floor in darkness. Thankfully my lantern was nearby and I was able to relight it.
