Ormälskare Sanctum

The Ormälskare Sanctum is located in @Ellon. It is the seat of leadership and governance throughout the Ayrithian Empire. The complex has public areas for worship, seeking the will of the gods and buying items for worship. There is also the Hall where people can petition the priests.

Purpose / Function

The building was built as a temple and is still used as a temple to this day. However, it is also used for the running of the day to day running of the city/land. City citizens (and occasionally those from further afield) bring issues before the Clerics/Priests and ask for advice.

Alterations

As needs changed, additions were made to the original temple. The Hall of Justice, accommodations, offices and a few other areas were added as required. Some of the more functional rooms are plainer than the ornate temple areas.

Architecture

Much of the structure is hidden behind sculptures/carvings of serpents. The entryway is a giant snake mouth with the tongue forming the steps. Poles/beams/columns have snake motifs all around. Below the temple is a winding catacomb believed to be part of the old city. A pillar for each deity is found in the inner sanctum.

Defenses

The temple is defended by guards, spells and runes.

History

When the refugees of the Ernesh Conflict decided to remain here they began erecting a temple to the gods. Seeing the warnings come to fruition scared the people into a kind of wary reverence of the gods and they decided they needed the priests to listen to the gods and impart their will. The Priests enquired of the gods and followed their designs.

Tourism

People from all over come here, especially on the observance of the Ernesh Conflict. There is a remembrance festival which starts sorrowfully but ends in much revelry. They come to the temple also to petition the Priests for their towns/lands to help them or to ask the gods to help them/guide them with whatever issue they are facing.
