The Age of Creation
In the days of Creation, the Gods created all of the realms and planes of existence in which all life comes from. In doing so they also created five elemental stones that control each of the elements; fire, air, water, earth, and spirit. During the creation era they also created the lands, in ways that are still unknown to many, but myths and legends all point to wars between the Gods that have left the lands in the way they are currently found. These wars went on for centuries as the Gods fought for power, one trying to be more powerful than the rest. However, during this time, a secret union between Lathander, the God of birth and renewal, and Shar, the Goddess of darkness and loss, birthed twin daughters Auria and Etera. This union brought a halt to the wars as the Gods were in awe of the young Goddesses, Auria, born with pure white hair, and Etera, born with jet black hair, as their birth brought in a new era of peace.
Auria was born with pure white hair and represented the day, spring, and summer. Etera was born with jet black hair and represented the night, autumn, and winter. As time went on, Etera became jealous of her sister and the attention and praise she always received. All manner of creatures, including many of the other Gods, basked in her daylight and we always happier during the spring and summer months. Although there were some that enjoyed her night, autumn, and winter, it wasn't enough for Etera. Soon, Etera began to plan war against Auria to take everything that was hers. This war would take place on the lands that are current day Critos. The Wild Mother, Melora, got wind of Etera's plan and knew she had to step in to stop this plan. Melora split the lands and them to the Goddesses to rule over. Auria received Critos, Cronto, and Kamboia. Etera received Oscend and Sebra. Still feeling as though her sister was favored, Etera lashed out at Melora. Not wanting to see anymore war, or fighting between their daughters, Lathander and Shar stepped in and made the painful decision to banish their daughters. Placing the Goddesses into an eternal slumber and casting them into the sky, for both to be seen in the night sky. The two moons that revolve around Arcturus, Auria and Etera, are said to be the sisters, forever in slumber to give light to the night sky.
In Literature
In the days of Creation, also known as the Creation Era, the Gods walked the Earth. They created the lands through many means, most being war. Mountains were raised as defensive barriers. Rivers carved through the ground as scars from battle and filled with water from the rains. Valleys and craters formed from where a God fell or hit the ground hard. These wars supposedly went on for centuries, until the sisters Auria and Etera were born from a secret union between Lathander, the God of birth and renewal, and Shar, the Goddess of darkness and loss. Auria was borth with snow white hair and Etera was born with jet black hair. These young Goddesses brought about a new era within the creation era, an era of peace. Auria and Etera were supposedly responsible for creating the day and night, as well as the seasons being in opposition of one another. As Auria and Etera grew up, Etera grew jealous of Auria and lashed out at her. In order to stop the sisters from starting another war, Lathander and Shar made the hard decision to put their daughters into an eternal sleep and cast them into the sky to both be marveled at night in all of their beauty as the moons that orbit Arcturus.
