Widespread Proper

Widespread Proper, commonly called simply "Proper," is the standardized spoken and written language designed to be usable by all peoples of Arcturus. Comprising only plosive consonants and easily distinguishable vowels, its spoken form is not especially elegant, but it serves its purpose well. And considering the breadth of its adoption, and the diversity of its users throughout the galaxy, many linguists regard it as the most important invention since the warp drive.

Proper is a conlang introduced by the Unison Network in the year 62,114. It was specifically designed with the aim of being easily learned and used by as many different anatomies as possible, and it succeeded hugely. Nowadays, it transcends even the reaches of the Network; as long as you aren't a forester, and you have at least radio communications, you likely speak some Proper.
