Defender Shield

This bronze shield was crafted a union of Chauntea, The Great Mother and Silvanus, The Old Oak. It has been known not only for it's defensive prowess, but also it has been used as an offensive weapon. It has been wielded by many champions, including famously Celestine the Brave.
Dormant
While wielding the Dormant Defender Shield, the user gains the following benefits:

• Defender Shield is a +1 Shield
• As a bonus action, the user may throw the shield up to 30 feet at an enemy. The player makes a weapon attack using their strength. If the attack hits, the player deals 1d4 bludgeoning damage, and can force the enemy to make a DC 14 Strength saving throw. If the enemy fails, the creature is knocked prone. Upon finishing the attack, regardless of whether it hits or misses, the shield returns to the bearer.

Awakened

• Defender Shield is a +2 Shield
• While holding the shield, the user can cast Aura of Protection once per day.
• The DC for the knockdown ability is raised to 16, and the damage is raised to a 1d6.

Exalted

• The Defender Shield is a +3 Shield
• While holding the shield, the user can cast Aura of Protection once per day.
• Allies within 5 feet of the creature wielding this shield gain advantage on saving throws against spells and magical affects.
• The DC for the knockdown ability is raised to 17, and the damage is raised to 1d8.
• The shield has 6 charges. As a reaction, when an ally is successfully hit by an attack, the user of the Defender Shield may throw the shield in an attempt to protect their ally. This gives the targeted ally a +3 bonus to their AC, which can block the successful hit from the enemy creature. It gains back 1d4 + 2 charges each dawn.
