They rose suddenly to power after the fall of Clan Ainros, when the seat of power transferred to Revelback. King Barthos the Beneficent placed Ruddard Padwell in the ancient seat of power. Barthos' queen was a Padwell, and the Padwells had also provided the old Queen Messenger, mother to the celebrated Prince Allad Ainros. Padwell's sigil was changed from the grimling to a winged leviathan, and in one swoop they became a great clan of Revellia. Though some whisper of treachery, Clan Padwell largely enjoys a reputation of dignity, fastidiousness, and reliability.
