Manjai Forest
A forest covering most of the Shanid Peninsula. Nestled in the woods are the towns of Shanider and Khanlig, as well as the port of Delbasta. Despite covering a great expanse, there are relatively few animals in the forest. Any predators that may have existed have died out, and the only large animals are a few deer. Even birds are rare, with the unique garudi being the only breed to make regular residence.
The reason for this sparse population is the manjai fruit: bright violet, knobby, delicious, and highly poisonous to most animals. Shaniderans have used the fruit as a disinfectant for wounds, and Delbatsans supposedly sell them as poisons to passing merchant sailors.
