The Ghihovi Wastes

The Ghihovi Wastes are a barren, hostile landscape that is dry, cracked, and magically corrupted expanse to the west of the Kolkari Mountains. Before the Great Desolation, it was a vast plain that was dominated by the great nation of Ghihon. However, after the Ritual Decimation of the Ghihovi people, the plains were torn asunder, becoming an inhospitable wasteland. Now, it is a desert that is held in eternal twilight due to the heavy clouds and fog that permeate the region. It boasts the most extreme and unpredictable temperatures in the known world, with the potential to change from 40º Centigrade to 0º Centigrade. The ground is constantly hot from the magical radiation of the area, and magical effects manifest out of seemingly nowhere across the wastes. The weather is also incredibly unpredictable, with both dust storms and blizzards being relatively common. However, when it snows, the flakes melt and boil off of the surface of the ground from its heat.

Geography

The Ghihovi Wastes are a forsaken, desolate area. It has been called a desert in the past, but that is not technically true. The area actually receives a generous amount of rainfall, with nighttime snow not being a rare occurence. In general, the region experiences extreme temperatures of freezing cold at night and extreme heat during the day. Whenever precipiation does occur, it is highly unusual. Acidic precipitation is relatively common, but the ground generates enough heat that the moisture quickly boils from the cracks and crevasses in the shattered ground.

Fauna & Flora

The area is home to many strange, mutated flora and monstrosities. For example, the region is native to a class of plants known as Rockfronds, plants that are distinctive for their stems and leaves that are sheltered by rocklike shells, resembling crustaceans. Not many creatures call this place home, or at least not many that aren't incredibly dangerous. Instead, it is home to strange insects and monsters unlike any that the rest of the world has seen.
