Michocan Social Structure

Michocan has a ridgid social structure consisting of six levels or strata. At the top is the God-King, or Teotlepetl. Directly beneath them is the council, made up of the most influential members of nobility and priest class all of whom are related to the God-King. Beneath them is the nobles who rule the many city states comprising Michocan. Beneath them is the merchant and artisan class, they are the ones who reponsible for the arts and public works of Michocan. Beneath them are the commoners and farmers, the back bone of Michocan, without whom no one would be able to eat or get anything done. Finally is the slave class. While not actually slaves per se, it is comprised primarily of debtors, criminals, and captives of wars.

While the class system is very ridgid in its delineation, there is a great amount of social mobility. It is possible for a commoner to become a noble, however in doing so the individual in question must leave their old life behind. There is no mixing of classes. Just as a noble would be offended by dealing with a commoner, a commoner would feel the same way if the positions were reversed.
