Ah the Jewel of the Republic. This great city is the "face" of the Drow Republic to the peoples of the surface world. The city resides beneath the country of Ameriel Kingdom. All the locals speak Common and all are kind and smiling people.
The city is the hub of trade between all nations and the Republic itself. As such, it has quite the sizable merchant's district for those willing to make trade. In order to cater to the needs of the good people who come to visit, it has several hotels, taverns, inns, and the like. The shops range from blacksmiths, apothecaries, potions shops, magic item shops, general goods stores and several temples for those in need of healing. There are plays being performed on a regular basis along with speakers giving news to the people.
It is said several Senators of the Republic have home estates not far from the city proper. There are several Fungi Farms not far as well that produce crops for trade with the merchants from the surface. Carriage transport is made available to those who wish to make the trip faster. Afterall, when visiting a Senator or owner of plantations for business, one cannot show unexpected or without proper transport. There's decorum to consider. Such things matter here.
All this is only the surface, or as the locals call it "the Upper City." You see, this is made for all the tourists and the like. If you wish to know the underbelly of the city, go to "the Under City." There, you will find what appeals to the other guests of the city as well as it's citizens. There are Fighting Rings, Gambling Dens and Brothels galore. The people walk in tightly packed alleyways with dirt and grime all over them regardless of how clean they were before they went below. The soot, grit and muck is expected down here as a result of the magics used to keep the Upper City spotless and clean. The spell-work didn't remove the dirt and the like the way a Spell like Prestidigitation would. It instead relocated the dirt to the Under City where it was out of sight and thus, out of mind for the fancy folk of the Upper City.
