Giant Worker Bee
G'day mate. Welcome to the Sano Confederation Bee tours. Me name's Dingo and I'll be ye tour guide right. First thing's first eh, did everyone sign their waivers? Can't start without them. Legal reasons. Right then, this little bugger right here is Boomba. She's a Giant Worker Bee. Her and her kin are protected by law in the Sano Confederation so I must warn you, no touching. We use Boomba and her sisters to help with the transportation of goods 'roud here. Heavy liftin' long distance travel, border patrols, standing defense forces and even helping out in the battlefield that is the Barbarian Hordes. She prefers pollen and honey from giant flowers but she won't have any qualms about killin anyone, especially when it comes to protecting the Qeen, the Hive, the Confederation or meself. Now grab your saddles, we goin for a ride mate. This here's me favorite part of the tour.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Consists of a Head, Thorax and Abdomen. The Giant Bee has an exoskeleton which alone would be rigid and hardy as the toughest of bones but as it ages, layers of hardened wax have grown upon it making it's hide as tough as platemail armor. It has six legs and 2 pairs of wings. The legs are as tough as tree trunks and enable excellent grip on rough surfaces but it also has soft pads on each leg enabling the creature to walk easily on surfaces as smooth as glass. It's legs also come with special adaptations to collect pollen easily and in larger quantities, these are called Pollen Baskets. On the front legs there is a special nook used by the Bee to clean it's Antenna and as such is called the Antenna Cleaner. The wings, while transparent, are still as tough as hide leather. Unlike it's smaller kin, the Giant Bee has a stinger, yes but it does not lose it after stinging it's target once. No. The stinger remains as the traditional Worker Bees have a Venomous sting that is quite lethal but there are variant mutations that have the ability to spray acid that eats the target or wax that instantly hardens and petrifies it's target.
Genetics and Reproduction
Classified by order of the Sano Confederation.
Growth Rate & Stages
The egg of the Worker Bee is placed in a cell. In three days it hatches and is fed royal jelly for two and a half days. At this point it's diet will be altered by the Nursing Bees, and it shall be fed a mixture of honey and pollen. Then, they are sealed inside a cell for twelve days. While inside they will create a cocoon from which it will transform from larva to pupae. After 20 days since the egg was first laid, it shall finally emerge as an Adult Giant Bee......of the Worker variety (Normal: Poison Sting, Soldier: Acid Spray or Guard: Wax Spray.
Ecology and Habitats
Sano Confederation.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Pollen and Nectar from Giant Flowers of various kinds grown only on the Sano Confederation.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
The antenna is made up of highly developed sensory organs specialized for Touch (since there is little to no light inside a hive), Smell (for the same reason and effectively giving the creature darkvision up to 60 feet {combination of touch and smell}) or taste (because food is yummy). There are also hair-like that can detect the movement of air particles a short distance away (effectively giving the Bee Blindsight up to 30 feet). The Bees actually have 5 eyes. Two are compound and used primarily to detect movement while the remaining 3 smaller ones, located above and in between the two larger compound eyes, are used to detect light intensity.
