Problem in Hafaborg and Hafpass
The players arrived here because they where escorting 2 merchants selling fish in standavoll. The players thought that they where just taging along with the merchants to get a ride and some money to go to Hafaborg, but in reality the merchants was in standavoll to kidnap a young female mage that the jarl of Hafaborg might be in need of. On their way to Hafaborg the players saw a small village outside of the city had been attack by evil giant kind, they even had to fight some of the giant kind themselves to survive. After this the players looked in the merchants wagon and found the girl, just before arriving to Hafaborg they released her to run away. The guards of Hafaborg spotted this and sent soldiers to retrieve her.
The players where then lead into the city where they met with the jarl and got some money for escorting the convoy even if they released the girl. They where also told that they should leave the city the next day as it will not be safe to stay too long.
Now here is some background about the current situation. Hafaborg has always successfully controlled their region and easily defeated any perceived dangers, but a few years ago people started going missing. No one really knew the reason behind the disappearances, only suspecting desertion, monster attacks or kidnapping (in truth a rebel organisation hiding in the great Lúka timberland where kidnapping people for lucanthropy experiments). Shortly after the city noticed a powerful infection of lycanthropy spreading amongst their people. This meant that some people could uncontrollably shape shift into monsters like werewolf, werebears or wererats. Thankfully with the control of Eyvoy, she found that so long her people never got hungry then they could control them selves and prevent from going feral. This caos had lead to the momentarily lapse in focus on controlling and maintaining the fort Hafborg, and the rebels had taken advantage of this my invading the fortress and taking over the Hafpass. Though the fort had been invaded no messenger managed to escape and make it back to alert Hafaborg. Jarl Eyvor has not heard from the fort for some days now growing worried of dangers approaching, Patrols have revealed that small villages have been attacked and some monsters and giants are loose, but the jarls still does not know to what extent. She is in the midst of preparing a small army to take back control of the south and take back the Hafpass, but with everything going on it will take a few days. Eyvoy has never asked for help before and will not now, so she has not told the players anything about this and will not beg for their help. She is also trying to get the players out of the city so that they do not see to many of the problems currently plaguing the city.
The inhabitants of the town are loyal to their leader and will not openly talk to outsiders about problems in the town, also their individual pride prevents them from doing so. Some of the infected people might still go wild if they forget to eat. Conversations might be cut short when the players come close.
She sent the merchants after the young mage as she might have a solution to control or rid their lycanthropy for good. She thinks this because the local alchemist Seven Of Ale suspect some arcanic influence in the infection.
As the players have been told to only stay here a day, i expect the players to take some time to explore the city abit before they might leave the city the next day.
