Bailenoc

The city of Bailenoc is nestled in a great hollow among the foothills of the Iron Mountains, perhaps five miles north of the Hauntmoor. It is the only Gnomish settlement in Aressa. Few outside travelers come to Bailenoc, as the only routes to the town pass through the Iron Mountains or the Hauntmoor.
The major landmark of the city is the Bailebata, a massive cylinder of white metal that rises out of the ground in the center of the city. Many theories have been put forth as to the nature of the Bailebata, but all that is certain about it is that the metal it is made from has never been damaged, even by small Gnomish fire-powder explosions, and that it seems to have no entrance.
