Kagerougumi

The Kagerougumi is a specialized military and police force used by the Shogunate. Formed in the year 1196 ATC as a small police force made up of skilled martial and arcane practitioners, the early goals of the unit were to protect the capital, its people, and its government against peasant uprising. Over the last decade, its purview expanded to include special operations against enemy assassins (both foreign and domestic), quelling uprisings throughout the country, and stamping out any signs of revolution, by force if necessary.

They have garnered a reputation of not only being made up of incredibly skilled soldiers, but also in showing little mercy to those the government deems traitorous. Due to their activities, those on the opposing side of the government have long since dubbed the Kagerougumi "government hounds".
