Ashenheim

The granite door of Ashenheim was the first thing built by the Stone Dwarves of old, in the days of the Cataclysm. To shelter their fragile, broken people from the primordial rage ravaging the planet, Brathan Stonestorm took up his enchanted stoneworking tools and etched the Grand Door from the solid rock. Inspired by his example, he soon attracted a die-hard group of stonemasons whose names are known only to history.
Together, Brathan and his Masons crafted an impenetrable Door seventy feet thick and four hundred feet high. Its twelve hinges, weaved into existence by Brathan's magic, held the door aloft. They were so perfect that a single dwarf could open the Doors almost without effort.
The Door saved Ashenheim from the Cataclysm, but in the end Brathan traded his life for Ashenheim's safety. He poured so much of his spirit and life-force into its creation that, once completed, the Door took every last drop of energy from him. He collapsed at its seam and died the day it was finished. To the people of Ashenheim, the Door is known as Brathan's Gate. And, to his credit, the people outside the Door are not even aware of its existence.
