The Keep of the King-eater

There is nowhere fouler nor more evil than the Keep of the King-eater. It is a place of despair, fear, and undeath. Its dark stone fortifications tower high above the decaying swamp that surrounds it. A permanent, thick fog encompasses the keep, obscuring its gothic battlements.
The Exterior
Narrow stone stairs choked with dead weeds, vines, and brambles ascend to a pair of massive, gothic-arched, hinged doors that mark the main entrance. The entire keep is dark as if a shadow. Otherworldly green and blue light occasionally flicker from the keep's tall, thin, arched, stained glass windows, reminders of its villainous occupant.
The Interior
Cavernous hallways adorned with gargoyles and other statues fill the keep. It appears ready to host galas and balls with innumerable guests, but those halls lie empty. Dust-covered carpets parade down gray flagstones while tables, benches, and mirrors stand guard to each side. The keep is as hauntingly beautiful as it is terror-inducing. These hallways guide would-be visitors past smaller (albeit still quite large) passages lined with cold torch sconces and countless wooden doors. The keep's main hallways all converge at a set of large, red-carpeted steps. These steps ascend past a gothic stone arch and into a massive throne room that dwarfs all other rooms. The King-eater's throne room is nearly the size of the rest of the keep. Tall, thin pillars hold the ceiling aloft while the red carpet continues toward the far end of the hall. There the King-eater sits atop the Tortured Throne, bathed in blue light. There the King-eater sits, commanding his undead hordes. There the King-eater sits, mouth agape, ready to consume all life.

Purpose / Function

The keep was built as a testament to the King-eater's power and control over his blighted realm. Toward the end of the Blight Crisis, the keep also served to protect the King-eater from King Arkan Blightbane's forces. In the present day, it serves as a reminder of the King-eater's power--but it may also serve as his tomb.

Architecture

The keep is tall and gothic, adorned with gargoyles, spires, and pointed arches. It was built from magically-reinforced stone that has since blackened with age and decay.

Defenses

The King-eater's presence is defense alone for most. However, the Keep is also guarded by hordes of undead and the King-eater's remaining lieutenants: The Man and The Beast.
