Once, during the conflicts, a now fallen upstart Archon attempted to make a claim on Archon Desallevaire's territory. That Archon quickly learned two very important lessons:
- Being young and feminine doesn't make a master spellcaster's magic any less epic.
- Peasants under the effects of a heroes' feast are a threat not to be underestimated by even trained military.
That Archon is gone now, and so is their territory... You can see how that went for them.
Archon Desallevaire, a peerless master of enchanting and conjuration, has one lasting love: food. A relatively new addition to the ranks of the Archons historically, Archon Desallevaire garnered much of their territory during the conflicts by simply annexing the territory of routed aggressors when their forces burnt out against the stout and unfaltering wall of a well-fed and happy populace. In the modern era after the peace, Desallevaire Ward is dedicated to a rather overlooked building in Archon territories: the kitchen. With hordes of unseen and tiny servants, mage hands, and scores upon scores of minor laborers, Archon Desallevaire has fully matured his wartime victory into an industrial powerhouse that clearly has staying power for the ages. Whether it's enchanted sweet cakes which give a pleasant sensation on the tongue for affluent parties or hyper-nutritious cubes that can feed an adventurer in the wilds for weeks per pound, Archon Desallevaire has taken the mundane art of cooking to extraordinary heights as, over the course of decades, his craft rose to legendary status across Argent.
While many of the products produced in Desallevaire Ward's kitchens are too expensive for the layman to afford, there are some inventions which are simple enough that even some Bonds may acquire them. Dehydrated ingredients that nearly never go bad and yet reconstitute with the fullest flavour, potions to purify water in emergency situations, even massive pots which can be cleaned with only water once per day are within the means of small groups or Bondships. These useful items are made available the world over through the
Aphentine Network and are highly sought after magical items by everyone from adventurers to royalty.
The kitchens of Desallevaire Ward are grueling workplaces, but not abusively so. It is simply an exacting science to produce such fine goods in such large quantities, and Archon Desallevaire is a strict taskmaster. He personally oversees a vast number of projects from above the floor of his workshops and personally takes his place at the forefront of some of the most ambitious tasks and creations. He is known for his unmistakable high-pitched, maniacal laugh, which does nothing to diminish the feminine persona that he adopts - not that he has any time or desire to assuage those perceptions in the first place.
