Friggamn

The frozen wastelands of Friggamn are home to some of the more tribal people of Sedden. Barbaric human tribes, frost demons escaped from Omen'an, villages of exiles and refugees from Auburn, and many more find their homes in the vast open frozen lands. Where most areas of Sedden have a rich and intense history to them, Friggamn lacks this. Not much has ever happened in the Friggamn, and it's arctic wastes have been home to very few over the millennia.     The people of the frozen hellscape of Friggamn grew and developed in a far different manner from the rest of Sedden. They didn't develop some amazing technologies, they didn't become some kind of trade hub either. Instead, the native people of the harsh land became survivors, they banded together and formed tribes that fought against each other for the best pickings of the meager resources that the harsh land had to offer them. The tribes were led by the strongest family in them, a father’s rule would pass to his firstborn and then to theirs and so on unless they were challenged by someone who thought that they would lead better or who thought they deserved the position more, families would remain in control for generations. These disputes were solved in the only fashion fitting for such a harsh place; combat. Each contestant was given the weapon of their choice and two shields, one a replacement for the other if it broke. The two would then fight to the death with the winner being rather obvious at the end. The victor and their family would then rule until another challenge was given.   To issue a challenge, one had to be native to the land as only one born of this harsh land would have the wisdom and strength needed to lead a whole tribe. Currently there are four major tribes that are the largest cohesive forces in the frozen desert:
  • Myrsky, the tribe that wanders the rim of Argent in the lands of Friggamn and is primarily nomadic, they are also among the most violent due to the scarcity of any resources around them.
  • Aavikko, the tribe that borders mainly along Muria.
  • Valtameri, the tribe that wanders the frozen coast of the Great Trade Sea.
  • Kiduttaa, the tribe that shares its border with Auburn and is the most likely tribe that is going to be encountered with firearms.
Magic in the tribes is as uncommon as it is in the rest of Sedden with most of it coming from people born with it, like sorcerers, or people who find the favor of gods, like clerics or rarely paladins. Most often it is seen in the minor magics of some types of ranger or fighter and even then, those are rare. Most people that you would encounter would fall under the banner of being fighters or barbarians with barbarian being the most common since finding the resources to make armor out of anything other than animal hide or leather is hard in Friggamn.

Geography

The lands of Friggamn are home to constant windstorms. These storms kick up the snow and make a strange and magical shape to the ice that turns the land into one large maze of frozen spires that make up the land. Besides this strange effect, the land is mostly flat, with the exception of the most western area of Friggamn bordering Muria. This land surrounded by desert is an arctic desert, and is the only biome of this kind in all of Argent.
