Kingka

Exiles of the Surreal, kingka once populated the fey forests and jungles. Forced out of their ancestral homelands by their hated rivals, the Faded, The kingka have made a home for themselves in the Material Reality. A naturally curious folk, The kingka have quickly adapted to life on the Material, though many of their fey-like traits still shine through. Most kingka today can be found in Kingrassil, an Elder Tree brought by the Kingka to the Material Reality, though some have elected to wander the world and find the wonders that can be found.

Physical Characteristics

Kingka without their glamour have chameleon-esque features, sporting colorful frills, scales, and tails. Kingka also have a unique ability to disguise themselves with their fey magic, taking up the appearance of others. Kingka who travel the world often take the guise of a native of the Material they have met, while Kingka who live in Kingrassil typically remain unglamoured. The Kingka of Kingrassil dress with what the Tree provides, adorning themselves in leaf and floral garments gathered from the tree. Kingka have very short lifespans, living to be around twenty years old.

Mental Characteristics

Kingka, while having adapted to the Material Reality, still retain much of their fey-like personalities. They are naturally curious and friendly, and they often don't concern themselves with consequences down the line. In Material societies, this child-like wonder often leads to them making social faux pas from asking what they think to be an innocent question.
Kingka, like many fey, can be very emotional and not reserved from displaying them. Often times their emotions can even be seen on their skins, as they change color to their emotions. They might change their appearance with their glamour to match the emotion they feel.
Despite being very free-spirited, Kingka are still very deeply rooted in spiritualism and more importantly, in nature and their Elder Tree. Kingka communes were tied to Elder Trees in the Surreal, where the tree provides for the Kingka as the Kingka show it veneration and care. This tradition continues in Kingrassil.

The Faded

Kingka were hunted to near extinction by the Faded. As such, despite their docile and friendly nature, Kingka are extremely wary of any creatures resembling Faded, and often elect to flee before interacting with them. Kingka who travel the world remain ever vigilant for Faded hunters.
Due to Kingrassil's nature of keeping out non-Kingka, Faded Hunters often look to take Kingka alive and force them to lead them back to Kingrassil.
