Quilliard Ward

For a Ward with such efficient production, one would never expect that the average age of the Bonds in Quilliard Ward was less than 3 years old. As a master of temporal magic, Archon Quilliard sees to it that all of his Bonds are in working condition very quickly after their birth. His plantations sit in accelerated time fields, and along with the multiplied frequency of harvests comes the rapid development of Bond children into effective working members of society. This does mean that fairly often they are not given the time to learn the Searan language, but that doesn't stop each trade in Quilliard Ward from having its own non-verbal sign or percussive language.
By the time they are a few months old, Blacksmiths grunt and tap their hammers to communicate across the din of the workshop while they work, and farmers gesture to communicate simple concepts. The exception to this are those bonds destined by their birth to enter positions of management or leadership positions. Store owners, Bondship leaders, even scribes are allowed to grow naturally outside a time field to allow them time to acquire a spoken language naturally from adults long enough to form a baseline to expand from as they reach their first year.
The result of this system of birth-defined position designation results in a strong class separation in Quilliard Ward, where Bonds find it difficult to alter their lot in life having grown 20 years in a matter of months without being given the tools to expand their skill set. There is not often a lot of consideration given to this issue, though, as the Bonds are often not educated enough to grasp the situation in which they live, and those that are have some of the most preferential positions available.
