Lord / Lady

A title bestowed upon the owners of settled land. The ruler of a settlement is often a lord, but could also be an alder in service of a lord.
While officially both men and women bear the title of lord, most women bearing this title are referred to as lady instead.
The common people often refer to any title-bearers or nobles as lord or lady.
