She has a strong tie to the Magical School of Illusions. She developed her skills in this school for two main reasons. First, she was a runaway and spent much of her late teens with street performers as well as storytellers. Illusion magic was very common among those who needed to beg for coin. the second reason was that the style of magic comforted her. she was able, even just for a moment, to change the world into a better reality. The tragedies in her life could be pained over with the flick of her wrist and a passion for her craft.

Personal history
Roya was born on Rose Island to a Half-Orc mother and Human Father. She was Raised in her village until she was six months old. At which time the village was attacked by a group of Zealot wizards and warlocks. This group went by the name of The Heart of the Scrolls. Known as the “Hearts” for Short they collected children to work for them. The day her village was attacked She became part of a group of kidnapped children that formed magical pacts with the powerful beings. Based on her Orcish lineage she would be unlikely to gain the use of the arcane arts naturally. The pact was to spark to life the natural talents that might be locked away because of reasons like race. These pacts It was also to see which children adept at magic. By the age of two, she was able to read and write nearly as well as any adult. Her quick wit leads to attracting the eye a member of the Hearts, Allison Jay, that followed the Raven Queen. Allison mentored Roya in the mechanics of casting spells for several years. In doing so she feeds Roya’s frustrations of not being able to cast the spells she studied. This Frustration came to a boil on Roya’s 14th birthday when she came crying to Allison. She told Allison she couldn’t even cast a simple spell like her friends and was at the point of giving up. At which point Allison presented an option to the young girl. Join her as an agent of the Raven Queen and she might be able to help ignite a spark in Roya. Tired and emotional Roya quickly agreed to this amazing offer. That night Allison pleaded with the Raven Queen to take her student under her wings. After a long discussion, Roya was given a magical pact with the Raven Queen. With the skills of a practiced wizard backed up by powerful eldritch magic she now could do so much. Allison was very satisfied that her years of scheming had paid off. She had done well in giving her patron a great little warlock. She continued to work with Roya. She was kept on the campus of the hearts until the age of 18. At which time Allison approached Roya and told her it was time to start to pay back their great leader for the magic she was blessed with. Given a few details, she packed and was ready to leave the camp for the 1st time. Their task brought them to a nearby village where they were tasked with finding a small kobold that was hiding. Easily finding her Allison captured the small lizardkin. To both Roya and Allison surprise however, the kobold was not alone. The kobold was carrying on her back a small half-orc baby. The two warlocks took their two captures to just outside the village. Roya grew concerned and confused that they were not heading back to the Hearts camp. Once they are all deep into the forest Alison explains the situation. To continue having magic supplied to her she needed to gather souls of those who escaped their fate. Given then choose of murder or her powers did not sit well with Roya. Making a snap decision Roya stuns Alison. With Alison incapable of moving Roya unties the kobold and the runoff into the forest together. They keep running until the late hours of the night not stopping both understanding death was close behind. By dawn, the two are exhausted and find a small cave to rest in. The Kobold introduced herself as Whistletooth. She explains she found the child on his slain mother and she adopted him as her own. Sadly her clan did not approve. Nearly escaping with both their lives Whistletooth and the child, Tinyfang, had just reached the village when Roya and Alison had shown up. Roya and Whistletooth agree to stick together and keep each other safe. The two hop from town to town living a meager life on the street. They were able to move unseen for about a 6 months heading south. Then one night they are making a campfire in the forest when the fire is dowsed and there surrounding are covered in darkness. Then the calls of Ravens clued Roya into there situation. Then feeling a blast of negative energy Roya is pushed off her feet. When she eyes open seconds later the magical darkness is fading away. As her vision clears she can finally see everything.
About 10 feet away from her stands Alison. At her feet stands the withered remains of Whistletooth. Roya knows this is the end of the line for her but stands up anyway. Though she some of her spell casting abilities stayed it she was only capable of casting simple spells. Alison raises her hand and aims it at Roya. Roya looks at Alison in the eyes she accepts her fate. However, When the wave of evil energy comes to claim Roya it is absorbed as a shield made of dark onyx appears before her. The Shield the dissolves into a black ink as it absorbed and lashes back at Alison. A blood-wrenching scream comes from Alison as she is engulfed in the tar. Then silence looms over the forest. Without thinking, Roya runs over to Whistletooths body. She finds nothing left except exposed bones and a husk of what used to be her friend.

Roya believes he is the soul of the adopted half-orc child of her best friend, Whistletooth, trapped in a Familiar. He was discovered after Whistletooth and her child had been killed due to her refusal to relinquish her child to the Hearts of the Scroll to form a pact. She is determined to find a way to return his soul to rest and is her main motivation in life.
