Oven-Baked Dark Jate Spankit Delight

The famous oven-baked Dark Jate Spankit Delight of the city Jateridge has very mysterious origins. No one is sure exactly how it came to be. However, it is said to have come from a bake off. The story is several generations ago there was a human baker named Ebryl Yeljor. She was a widow, her husband had been killed by robbers when their six children were young. So to make a living she baked. She quickly became very well known around the city and was very good at her job. She even handled dinners and banquets that the elites put on. However, about five years after the death of her husband a new elfin baker came in named Rainrel Herric and somehow, even though their baked goods were not as good was putting Ebryl Yeljor out of business. He was ruthless and underhanded. Plus for some reason he wanted Ebryl Yeljor out. So he came up with lies about her and her family. Was somehow already friends with many of the elite. He was doing everything he could to drive her out of town. Finally a few elite that didn’t like Rainrel Herric set up a challenge between the two bakers. They were to make a dish that none had heard of before and serve it to the king who was coming in one week to visit Jateridge. Which ever the king liked better was to stay and the other was to leave. Rainrel Herric was boastful and arrogant saying that he knew of a dish that he would create that would cause the king to cry because it tasted to good. While Ebryl Yeljor was nervous. This was her home and lively hood for her children.   She spent the next week with her children trying to find something to make. By the day before they were to present their dishes she still hadn’t come up with anything. As she was closing up her shop that night a young male elf came into her shop. She didn’t think much of it as they bought the rest of her goods that she had out. As she was placing the money he had paid with the other money she noticed that there was a written note. She went to call the elf back but didn’t see them, it was as if they had disappeared. That’s when Ebryl looked at the paper closer and noticed that it was a recipe. Since she didn’t have anything more ides she decided to bake it. She spent all night make it, with the help of her older children.   The next morning she and her children gabbed the dish and headed to the city center where the king was staying. The king was in a bit of a sour mood and Rainrel was already there waiting when Ebryl arrived. There was a fuss as to who would be to go first. Finally the king said enough and asked Ebryl to bring her dish up. Ebryl complied and served it to him. The area was completely silent as the elite ate the dish. A moment later the king stood and clapped his hands together. “I have never tasted or eaten something so divine!” He exclaimed. Rainrel just smiled and said that it was just the start then came up and served his dish. This time the elite was crying however it wasn’t because it was good, it was way to spicy and most had to spit it out. Rainrel cried fowl saying that Ebryl must have messed with his dish. However, Ebryl along with her children defended herself saying she had not left her bakery all night. A few onlookers also collaborated that she had not gone near Rainrel’s bakery. However, Rainrel kept saying that Ebryl had done something to his dish. It wasn’t until Rainrel’s helper came forward and said that no one else had touched the dish except Rainrel. The king again finally called for silence. After a long moment he said that Ebryl’s work was the winner. With that said was Rainrel was banned and the birth of the Oven-baked Dark Jate Spankit Delight.
