Splinterlight

Splinterlight accepts all who have no other home into their midst as long as they are willing to obey the Splinterlight oaths of Beneficence, a set of guiding principles that shape the faction's culture and values.   The people of Splinterlight form a diverse tapestry, encompassing a wide array of races, classes, and cultures. An elected council of seven members takes the helm of leadership in Splinterlight, guiding the faction with wisdom and vision. Through a democratic governance structure, every voice is given an opportunity to be heard, fostering a sense of inclusion and shared responsibility.   Although Splinterlight is not an affluent faction, its resourceful inhabitants engage in trade as needed for their subsistence. Bartering and exchanging goods with neighboring factions, they meet their essential needs while cultivating positive relationships based on mutual respect and cooperation.

Structure

At the core of Splinterlight's governance is an elected council comprising seven members. These individuals, chosen by their peers, bear the responsibility of making decisions that impact the faction as a whole. Their leadership is guided by a democratic ethos, fostering a sense of participation and shared responsibility among the inhabitants of Splinterlight. Regular council meetings provide a platform for open discussion, ensuring that the concerns and opinions of every resident are considered.   The Council is responsible for the enforcement of the Oaths of Beneficence, and a violation of the Oaths will result in a trial before the council. Most serious violations result in extradition for a pre-determined amount of time, after which the guilty individual will be welcomed back after completing a Trail of Contrition.

Culture

Splinterlight's culture is deeply intertwined with the oaths of Beneficence, the guiding principles that govern the faction and define the moral fabric of its society. These oaths, taken by every resident upon entering Splinterlight, form the foundation of their shared values and beliefs. The inhabitants of Splinterlight embrace a spirit of generosity, kindness, and mutual support, extending a helping hand to those in need and fostering a community built on trust and cooperation.   The first oath is the Oath of Acceptance, which binds every member of Splinterlight to accept all those who have no other home into their midst. This commitment to inclusivity is at the core of the faction's identity, ensuring that refugees and individuals in need find solace and safety within its borders. The Oath of Acceptance fosters a sense of compassion, empathy, and understanding among the residents, reinforcing the notion that everyone deserves a chance to rebuild their lives.   The second oath is the Oath of Unity, emphasizing the importance of cooperation and harmonious coexistence. Splinterlight's inhabitants, hailing from various races, classes, and cultures, celebrate their diversity while recognizing the strength that comes from unity. The Oath of Unity encourages collaboration, cultural exchange, and the blending of traditions, resulting in a vibrant tapestry of customs and practices that enriches the faction's collective identity.   The third oath is the Oath of Service, underscoring the responsibility of every resident to contribute to the betterment of the community. Each individual within Splinterlight is expected to offer their skills, talents, and labor for the common good. Craftsmen create exquisite artifacts, healers tend to the sick and wounded, scholars impart knowledge, farmers cultivate the land, and everyone plays a part in sustaining and enhancing the faction's prosperity.   The fourth is the Oath of Remembrance: Splinterlight's history as refugees remains an integral part of their identity. The Oath of Remembrance signifies the collective commitment to honor their past, to remember the hardships they have endured, and to ensure that the lessons learned are not forgotten. This oath manifests in memorial ceremonies, storytelling sessions, and the preservation of artifacts and documents from their journey. The Oath of Remembrance serves as a reminder of their strength and resilience, inspiring future generations to carry forward the legacy of their ancestors.
