The Emerald Band

The Emerald band calls no specific place home. They can be found in temporary encampments in groves and other significant natural sites. They travel through all the lands of Arion, looking after nature’s interests. The Emerald Band consists of a collection of rangers, nature mages and like-minded individuals who all champion Nature and a balance in all things. The Emerald band has produced some of the most hardened and expert scouts and archers on the continent of Arion, and they are welcomed openly almost anywhere.

Structure

The Emerald Band is led by an elected council:

• The Owl - The spiritual leader of the Band
• The Falcon - The Military Leader of the Band
• The Crow – Custodian of Intelligence

The vote for the council members is done yearly, and all members of the Band is allowed to vote.

Culture

The Band is generally friendly and open to strangers and welcomes all who respect nature and are willing to respect their traditions. Those who wish to join the Emerald Band may do so after travelling/living with them for a year as a ‘Sparrow,’ the name given to new initiates.
Those of the Emerald Band are devoted to Arion’s natural balance and will pass through the lands sharing their wisdom with those who will listen. They have a long history of story-telling and most of their historical accounts are passed through fireside tales instead of written narratives. A member of the Band is expected to be completely self-sufficient and can live off the land without cruelty and misuse. This includes food, clothing and shelter.
Due to their close association with many nature mages, the Emerald Band abhors extra-planar creatures and has a military arm specifically dedicated to eradicating these beasts.

Demography and Population

It is difficult to enumerate all those who are member of the Emerald as they are nomadic and never stay in one place for long. It is estimated that they number in the thousands.
Wild Elves, Mystic Wood Elves, Biata, and Barbarians common in the Band, but many other races are represented.

Laws

The Band have agreed to The First Pact and subscribes to Arion Common Law, although their punishments differ and they have additional punishments for those of the Band who transgress nature's laws.
