Daybreak is primarily inhabited by born and bred Solassi. However, there are a number of ports owned by the Daybreak Shipping Company that operate out of the entire coastline, bringing to it Aftari traders. Thus, an integrated population of Solassi and Aftari is standard. Some folks believe there is prejudice against the Aftari population, especially those families who assimilated into the Solassi royal court and other prominent governing positions. However, such prejudices are frowned upon and promptly punishable by public lashing or jail time should they be represented in physical action.Class System
Solassia has a semi-distinct class system. Noble families exist below the royal family, and there is considerable social mobility between the working and middle classes. Working class: Due to the nature of immigration from Aftara, most Aftari have settled into the working class, and are often expert tradesfolk, fisherfolk, and sailors working side by side with the Solassi working class. Middle class: Both Aftara-born and Solassia-born folks are scattered throughout the middle class, perhaps with the most social mobility given their work in fine arts, brewery, smithy, and finance. Upper class: The upper class is primarily Solassia-born wealthy merchants, whose generational wealth keeps them above reach for most citizens. These are often the people investing in real estate and high finances of natural resource distribution and bleed into consultancy positions. Noble class: The nobles own much of the territory of Solassia in their individual acreage, and are the primary distributors of resources and collect taxes on behalf of the empire.
