The Power of Blood

"Throughout all time, a singular force echoes in the rhythmic drumming of the hearts of all beings, and in one form or another, every type of life is animated by it. "The Power of Blood", be it the crimson blood of dragons, the silky blood of plants or the ethereal stream of a spectral, yet no matter what form it appears in the power remains the same." ~ Allachai Corvus elven scholar

The Progenitors of Blood

It is unknown who really discovered the secrets hidden in the blood, but the fathers are the ones who first recorded their findings. A tribe of elves from the north who called themselves Zik'kai who took pride in their martial arts and secret medicine produced a generation of generational talents the gre'hai which roughly translates to "Those who peer ahead". These young elves pushed their bodies to their limits and once they reached them they took pride in overstepping them and by chance one of them stumbled upon the roaring power which slumbered within them. The records that remain are not to clear on how it happend but it happend at one of the highest peaks in the Wyvern Mountain Range and it is speculated that a dragon guided the young man.   The young man was not selfish with his discovery and shared it with the other members of the gre'hai who embraced this new found power and mastered it in the following years. Their discoveries were recorded and most of it is accurate too this day. They even uncovered that the power is different in every being and can be classified in types. The original documents were later composed and combined into the "Tome of Blood" which today is safeguarded by the Keepers.

Vampires

It is unknown when it happened but somewhere nearing the end of the first age the "Tome of Blood" was stolen from the elves by an unknown entity and not even a decade later its teachings had spread across the continent and maybe even beyond. A power as mighty as that is dangerous in the hands of a disciplined and goodhearted being, but it is catastrophic in the hands of a WEAK and currupted being. All over variations and perverse, twisted and mutilated sub teachings emerged and an uncountable number of people perished as they could not control their own power. But these garbled teachings were just a haze, the precursor to the emergence of a whole new chapter of Bloodlines - the vampires.   The "Tome" teaches that the power be used to supplement the bodies strengths and molded into ones own body however undisciplined minds will use the power not in the intended fashion instead of conforming to it they will shape it in a way that they desire. This led to the creation of Vampires as the power was bent too far it lashed back at the user and permanently changed their body, minds and souls to the newly created bloodline.   A man who used the power to inspire Fear in others now embodies that very fear and is starved for it, in order to survive they have to keep on drawing on the fear of others which worsens his condition, a vicious cycle. Even those who wanted to use the power for good, such as a healer, now have this power within them and are slowly walking towards their grave. Same for those who dabbled in greed, lust even honor. All trapped in their own powers.

Stabilization

Vampires now walked arkion and most wreaked havoc wherever they went and since most were of elven liniage anti elven sentiment exploded and a witchhunt well vampire hunt ensued, silvermines across the land worked overtime as the unique properties of the metal when smelted in moonlight dampens the power of blood. Soon the elves were driven from the multi racial cities of Arkion and most took refuge in the Kingdom of Lavrellnìr which was only a fledgling force at the time. And in the decades that followed vampires had mostly vanished from the memories of the short lived races suchas Humans. The elves however remembered and were more acutely aware of the presence of vampires who still emerged here and their within their ranks as the prospect of "The Power of Blood" were too enticing.   Because of this the elves began to deepen their research into the bloodlines both on the surface as well as under wraps many influential figures ordered this reaserch to be done. The documents and papers that where created during this time were revolutionary not only in the understanding of the power itself but also shed light to its origin and its prospects. Their efforts soon bore fruit as individuals "afflicted" with the bloodline backlash were able to control the changes and slowly breached through the limitations on their power. With time noble lineages emerged who purposely "train" their members to become vampires which resulted in an unprecidented boost in their power. Soon many others followed, establishing different blocks of power within the elven kingdom based on bloodline. The controlled versions these elves created became heredetary and are now known as the oldest and most powerful bloodlines.

The Wrath of the Progenitor

Within the Kingdom of Lavrellnìr those with access to a bloodline power were not treated differently because of it, however beyond the kingdoms borders "Vampires" were still mostly treated with hostility. Thus for the longest time the secrets of the controlled bloodlines stayed confined in the kingdom, however with the growth of Lavrellnìr conflict arose and for the first time Vampiric Corps devestate the Battlefields. Despite Lavrellnir's best efforts the news could not be contained any longer and in certain circles it spread like wildfire, turns out other kingdoms and species had also tried but failed to attain control over their bloodlines.

Seeing as their effort was in vain Lavrellnir soon stopped trying to keep their advancements under wraps and publicly admitted that Vampires walked their Ranks, a grave mistake as history will show. Admittedly it took a while for the news to reach into the remotest regions of the Wyvern Mountainrange but eventually it did, and there it reached Gaunther the true "Progenitor of Blood". He was the one who taught the gre'hai the secrets of blood, against the will of most other ancient dragons who thought other races to be too corrupt for the delicate power of blood. Faced with this perversion and missuse of the power sacred to the dragons Gaunther felt the deep sense of betrayal.
"At first i heard the wind, it was intense even for this time of the year and the trees swayed and creaked under its pressure. I put down my book sipped on my cerevelyse and peered into the flames of the fireplace and there i saw... well even now i cant pinpoint it exactly what it was but the fire was too intense for the amount of wood in it. Instinct is a curious thing but i knew the danger was upon us so i sounded the alarm and in my gut i already knew what it was DRAGONS" ~ Report from the Treetops in flames
The wrath of the Progenitor was insurmountable and this night something curious happened normally the Great Forest of Jura is impervious to even the strongest kinds of flames. however unbeknownst to the elves of the time trees themselves draw their power through their bloodline well not really blood however the term just fit across the board. With trees the power works quite different, throughout the forest a single vat of bower is shared and the oldest trees reign over it. Jura is the mightiest out of all of Arkions forests, a single Dragon poses little to no threat to it. However the trees had also noticed the perversions that some of the noble elven houses have performed in their midst and thus decided to sacrifice some of their own in order to get the message across.   Many records of the time got snuffed out by the fire especially those in the libraries of houses who dabbled more deeply in their bloodline research. Gaunther was powerful and old but even he knew not to test the forests patience, so after satiating his deepest rage, he settled in the royal court in the form of a Human and started to write, notice not in elven form which most dragons and also Gaunther usually preferred. He wrote pages upon pages even as the fire still raged throughout the Kingdom of Lavrellnìr and only stopped a full week later, when the fires were doused and all the elven royalty had surrounding him, trying to garner his attention with apologies, flattery questions and such.
Gaunther however did not acknowledge them and went past them towards a young elven child, her name kept secret to this day. But rumors are that she had practiced a traditional form of the Bloodlines but no one but the oldest elves know for certain. He walked over and said a single sentence
"My mistake will haunt me for the rest of my life, can you share my burden!" ~ Gaunther   The girl had apparently agreed and then Gaunther was off, leaving only his scriptures behind.

Banishment of Blood

"Banishment of Blood" was what the elves called the scripture drafted by Gaunther, as it outlined the details about those who missused the bloodlines for evil but also outlined those who used the perverted power for good. And since there was no way Gaunther could hunt down every user, script, book etc. and restore the secrets of the Bloodline, he outlined which of the bloodlines he deemed the "Grat onire" - the lesser evil and prepared an oath those families had to swear into, to aid in containing and opposing those who sought the power for evil.
