Joriel - The Diamond Drake

"Perhaps nobility and honor were never meant to be easy. Perhaps there was always meant to be risk involved. And perhaps there can be no nobility without trust. That is why we must stand as one."
Joriel is the Ancient of Virtue and Metallic Dragons. Besides Selune, Joriel is the Ancient most associated with Light and Justice. His charge is to ensure justice is carried out in creation, while also extending mercy and compassion to those that need it. Joriel has many followers among the Dragonborn of Arkos, orders of paladins, and those who wish to serve out justice independently.   Being a great dragon only rivaled in size by Paires among the Prime Ancients, Joriel has seen many battles himself, being one of the most adamant fighters against the Infernals during the First Age. He also fought against many of the Fallen during the Cataclysm, though the wounds he sustained during the war caused him to seclude himself for much of the Second Age, only lending his power to those that fought in great wars for a just cause, such as against the Primordials.   Despite his terrible size and intimidating appearance, Joriel is also known to be among the friendliest of the Prime Ancients, both towards his own kind and mortals. Working together with Selune and Dulcis, Joriel created and bestowed upon five mortals he deemed worthy five tomes that carried his power so that his aspect could be fulfilled in the Mortal Realm while he recovered from the Cataclysm. These tomes of Valor, Justice, Retribution, Hope, and Compassion, have long since been lost to time, as is the Order of Mortals who once carried them.   Joriel himself dwells in the Realm of Avalar , a beautiful paradise of floating islands, lush mountains and marble temples.
