The Roame Trading Company is a Scandian joint-stock company and megacorporation formed for pursuing and monopolizing trade with the continents of Western Arkos, and is one of the largest and wealthiest trade organizations on Arkos. Originally formed by the Halfling Roame brothers, the company trades in all goods mundane, exotic, arcane, and occasionally dangerous. Shares of the Company are owned by wealthy merchants and aristocrats in various countries, though the company's headquarters has always been based in the Confederacy of Scandia. While local governments reserve their right to exercise control over what goods are transported across their borders, they own no shares and have only indirect control over company affairs. Due to the value of the goods they often transport and their rivalry with Luxurpore, the company comes equipped with its own private armies, exercising military power and assuming administrative functions.
The main Roame trade route across the seas of Western Arkos is often referred to as the Sapphire Fairway, and travels from the Kingdom of Velant to the Draconian Republic, where the company does a tremendous amount of business with the locals.
